The most important thing comes to be the kneading and compression process, since with this the required shape and diameter is obtained.

Ingredients

  • ½ glass of hot water (100 ml).
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil (15 ml).
  • 2 cups of wheat flour (250 g).
  • A pinch of salt.

  • Cooking pot.
  • Bowl.
  • Roller.
  • Hand blender.
  • Nonstick skillet.

Preparation

  • To start, boil a cup of water in a small saucepan.
  • Next, pour the wheat flour and salt, oil and hot water into a bowl.
  • Mix everything with the hand mixer until it is integrated and begins to form a thick paste.
  • Verify that the dough has a certain looseness  when stirring (that is, that it does not compact completely). If necessary, rectify the amount of water.
  • On a smooth, clean surface, dab some oil with a napkin or paper. There you will knead with the rolling pin for a few minutes until the dough is very smooth and easy to shape.
  • Take the pot and grease the base (outside) with a little oil. Now take it to the fire to warm it up a bit; This will be your mold to make the tortillas.
  • Place a small ball of dough in the center of the smooth surface and flatten it with the hot pot. Press for a few seconds and remove the pot. Take the resulting tortilla and place it in the pan previously heated over medium heat.
  • Repeat the procedure until you get the desired tortillas. It is very important that you grease the base of the pot with oil every time you go to make a new one. This way it won’t stick or lose the dough.
  • Also, remember that  the tortillas should be left in the pan for the time necessary to brown, no more, no less. Once ready, place them on a plate or container and cover with a cloth cloth while they cool to room temperature.
  • If you have some dough left over, you can wrap it in plastic and store it for a couple of days in the freezer.
  • Don’t forget to heat the tortillas before filling them.
